- Reflection
Firstly, after 30 minutes of research, workshop 3 began with a 5 minute improvisation in order to get my body warm and my mind focused. Due to my planning I decided to create a phrase which travelled from one side to another as I thought the sense of my energy being released would be easier to convey whilst travelling. However from watching my workshop videos, I also portray the idea that my energy is being pulled downwards, for example; the beginning of the phrase begins with a sudden head tilt downwards leading into a shoulder roll.
Referring back to workshop 2, this workshop was more successful overall because the structure of the session ran smoothly and by the end of the workshop I was confident in the phrases I had produced and the creativity involved. This was due to not rushing ahead of the process and focusing on one sub question at a time. At this precise moment in the creative process, I needed to focus on the pure movement instead of the dynamics which is why this was a productive hour. Furthermore I was pleased that I managed to adapt another phrase from my original phrase whilst managing my time to fit my schedule. The second video shows my development of my first phrase in which I think I achieved successfully. Within this phrase, I added a sudden release of my arm at the beginning, adding more effect to the original phrase. Furthermore whilst I was researching, I discovered an online video, which is listed in my academic sources that inspired me to step outside my comfort zone and to extend my phrase where I perform a small cartwheel into a roll on the floor. From reflecting on my videos, it is clear I still need to use more breath because my movement looks rushed at points. However with more practise it will become more natural and I can begin to show dynamics that help express feeling of release. For example, there is a moment in which I shift across the space and I could performance with more power and as if I am slicing through the air.
