Reflection

From my mind map I gathered enough research to help me structure my workshop and navigate through the hour efficiently. After spending 30 minutes on creating an in-depth mind map, I focused my intention on creating a simple technical phrase. Using the image taken from the Chicago musical as a stimulus, it encouraged me to involve draped hands at least once within my phrase to demonstrate the fosse style. I believe I achieved the aims I gave myself as by the end of the session I had a strong phrase that demonstrated technique such as plies and turns as well as elements from fosse specifically when I back arch with my hands draped at my waist and when I sustain a slow step at the end of the phrase, my hand presents a fosse styled gesture at the same time.
Jazz is one of my favourite styles therefore this session was not as challenging as my previous workshops because I have had a lot more experience physically and  academically in both fosse and theatrical jazz. Moreover I am going to continue to watch videos- specifically musicals- because I think this will help me to achieve the style of jazz throughout my solo. I am confident with how process of my workshops are going as I now have set phrases that I find interesting and show room for exciting developments.
