Reflection

This had been the longest and most challenging workshop yet. I became unmotivated due to a lack of planning ideas. Furthermore this resulted in a relaxed session in which I spent time moving in ways that felt natural for my body. Meanwhile I also aimed to incoperate the use of my breath but I am still struggling to grasp the idea of holding and letting go of my breathe when it is required.
More importantly, I also focused my mind on my dynamic investigation by creating imagery of letting go of unwanted tension and energy. This resulted in the dynamic of soft movement contrasting with a sudden movement, but although it is sudden it is also sustained. In evaluation the two improvisation videos above convey moments of release and a dynamic quality that I was pleased I achieved.  For example within the second video I became engaged when I lifted my leg in towards my chest and then released into a deep lunge. However in the first video there was moments in which the dynamic quality was lost and it was evident that I was thinking about what movement I could do next. During my studies as a choreographer, I am trying to move away from thinking during improvisation as I just want to open my body to new movement.
In conclusion I do not think I will use any movement from this workshop as I do not see any potential or developments from it, but I am pleased that I did not settle on material and that I am able to move forward from another starting point.
