Workshop 9

How can the use of space be explored within two styles?

Date of workshop: 16/12/19

Aims

  • Recap the phrases I have decided to keep in my solo and begin grouping phrases together to slowly start connecting my choreography.
  • Research into a range of music artistic and songs.
Planning

  •  Workshop schedule
Duration of workshop: 1 Hour

17:00pm- 18:00pm - Recapping current phrases and begin to focus on my intentions on how I will explore the space.
Video One

A travelling jump that falls into the floor - This demonstrates power that releases into a slow, sustained back arch.

Video Two

This is a phrase I developped from workshop 8 for example, I add an attitutde whilst reaching my arms into jazz hands. This added a higher level of complexity and it think the release out of the attitude is very effective.

Reflection

In this workshop, I decided to focus on my third sub- question, 'How can the space be involved within two styles?', in which I wanted to clearly highlight that my main spatial ideas are travelling combinations and floor work- as I did not want to spend too much movement in one place. My aims for my solo was to demonstrate continuous and consistent choreography, therefore my current workshops involve a lot of travelling through this space.
Overall this lesson involved recapping all of my movement, positioning my spacing within these but unfortunatley I did not record this process. However the two videos above are snippets of new material that I would like to add into my solo.
